Melodee Rae Rhodes Foster, 79, of Elk Grove, CA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 16th, 2024, surrounded by her three sons and her husband. As a faithful Christian, Melodee often shared the Gospel with all of her family, friends, and acquaintances. After a courageous journey with cancer, she finally heard the words she so longed to hear, “Well done my good and faithful servant".
Melodee was born in Ukiah, CA on May 9th, 1945, to Beverlee and Howard Rhodes. After Melodee graduated from Ukiah High School in 1963, she went on to study music at Delta Junior College and The University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA.
Melodee met her husband Steve Foster in 1965 and they married on June 26th, 1966. Steve was the love of Melodee’s life, and they spent fifty-eight years together. Family meant everything to Melodee. Her life with Steve grew to become a family of five after the birth of their three sons, Brian, Scott, and Stephen. They spent many years camping, hunting, going to Disneyland, and attending their boys’ sporting events. She was an active member of Wilton Bible Church and the Redwood Valley Community Church since 1978.
Melodee was a schoolteacher at Wilton Christian School for nearly thirty years and she took pride in leaving an impact on her students’ lives. The relationships she shared with her students didn’t end after graduation, as she and Steve traveled the country attending their college graduations, weddings, and even coordinating those weddings!
Melodee was the epitome of Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Melodee will be remembered for her love for Jesus, love for her family and friends, her beautiful singing voice, incredible talent as an artist, contagious laugh, beautiful smile, love for all things Disney, and her amazing cooking … specifically a few family favorites are her homemade pizza, clam dip, chip beef fondue, green tomato pie, and fresh lemonade from her backyard lemon tree!
Melodee is preceded in death by her mom Beverlee, her dad Howard, and her sister Cindy. She is survived by her loving husband Steve and sons’ Brian (Stephanie), Scott (Sierra), and Stephen (Sarah). Melodee will be deeply missed by her fifteen grandchildren: Kimberlyn, Dylan (Taylor), Ethan (Sarah), Ian, Kylee, Zoe, Zachary, Maverick, Addie, Mia, Teo, Max, Lexi, Lily, and Ben.
Melodee will be missed by her family and friends, and they take comfort in knowing that they will see her again.
