Mee-Yung Yan

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mee-Yung Yan Yu, aged 94, on March 11, 2026.

Born in 1931, Mee-Yung grew up in Taishan, China. In the early 1950s, she moved to Hong Kong, where she devoted herself to raising her children and caring for her family. In 1982, Mee-Yung immigrated to the United States.

Mee-Yung was preceded in death by her first child, daughter Mei Kuen, who passed away in early childhood, and her husband of 45 years, Wai Ming Yu.

Mee-Yung dedicated her entire life and attention to her family as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her four children: Yuk Lin, married to Norman; Henry, married to Catty; Sarah, married to Dennis; and John, married to Nancy. She was a cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren: Shirley and Dana, Stephanie and Connie, Kevin and Rachel, and Alex and Megan. Mee-Yung was also a beloved great-grandmother to Elina, daughter of Stephanie, and her husband Jason, and Chloe, daughter of Kevin, and his wife Lesley.

Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 25th, from 6:00-8:00 PM at East Lawn Elk Grove, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624.

Services to honor Mee-Yung's life will be held on Thursday, March 26th, at 10:00 AM at East Lawn Elk Grove, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624. Funeral procession to follow, burial services begin at 12:30 PM at Odd Fellows Lawn, 2720 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95818. All who knew and loved Mee-Yung are invited to attend and celebrate her life.
