May G SooHoo, a dedicated mother, wife, and hardworking immigrant, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, in Sacramento, California. She was born on December 30, 1929, in Toisan, China, and made the brave journey to the United States on February 24, 1954, with her first son in tow. Upon settling in Sacramento, May and her husband, John M SooHoo, built a loving home for their family of six sons. She was a diligent cannery worker, whose savings not only supported her family but also her relatives back in China. Her dedication and perseverance eventually allowed her to sponsor their immigration to the US, thereby reuniting her family. Her journey culminated in her becoming a naturalized citizen, a milestone that marked her determination and resilience in the face of adversity. May G SooHoo is survived by her six sons: Leon, Ron, Gerry, Terry, Darryl, and Donald SooHoo, her sister Linda Gee, and her brother Don Kwan. Twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her legacy of hard work, family values, and unyielding love will live on through them. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 13 from 4- 7PM and a Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 14 at Noon. Services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacamento, CA.
