Maryellen Calvert Kiesling

September 2, 1925 – March 16, 2023

On March 16, 2023, Maryellen Calvert Kiesling passed away in Sacramento, California. She was 97 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband James, and their son, David James. She is survived by her children Mary Lynne and Joe, grandsons Chris (Sarah), David (Amy), and Tim (Stephanie), and great grandchildren Cassidy, Emily, and Jack. 
Maryellen was born on September 2, 1925, in Bloomington, Indiana. She met and married her husband, James, while they were attending Indiana University. They moved to Sacramento in 1948.
While raising her children, she found she enjoyed working with her youngest son, David, and the other preschoolers in the parent participation preschool. She then decided to go back to college where she obtained her preschool teaching credential, and then worked as a preschool teacher for many years.
Maryellen was a member of the Valley Hi Niner’s golf group and was a past captain. She was a leader for her daughter’s Camp Fire Girls group for many years. Together, our parents enjoyed their yearly extended vacations in Santa Cruz for the summer, and Palm Springs for the winter.
To honor our mother’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
