Mary (Emigh) Lawrence

February 8, 1940 — April 18, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Lawrence.  A native of Sacramento, Mary was the daughter of Colby and Jay Emigh.  After graduating from Sacramento High School in 1957, she attended San Jose State where she worked towards her teaching credential, finishing it at Sacramento State when she returned to marry the love of her life, Rich, in 1961.  Mary taught kindergarten for a short time before starting their family.

Mary always had a positive outlook and brought joy to many people. She enjoyed book club with her friends, including her sister, Carol Welker, who predeceased her in 2022. Mary loved her home and having her family around her. She cherished their time together rooting for the 49ers on Sundays, and visiting Carmel and Hawaii.  She adored her grandchildren and attended many skating competitions and soccer games.

Mary will be missed by all who knew her, especially her closest friend Marcia Schallig.  They had many laughs together over coffee, during a Pilates class, or on the many buying trips for the family business.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Rich, children Brian (Zephra) Lawrence and Stacey (Tom) Gazda of Albany, NY, grandchildren Emma Lawrence, Grace Lawrence, Lucy Lawrence, Katie Gazda, Danny Gazda.
