Mary passed away quietly after a short illness with Roy Adams a friend for over 64 yrs. at her bedside. Born and raised in Sacramento, and survived by a niece, Judy Lambdin of Fairfax, CA. She married Bill Geach in 1951, and they were married two weeks short of 59 yrs. before his passing in 2010.
After her marriage, she moved 6 houses down the street from her home, living on the same street for her entire life of 95 years. She attended David Lubin Grade School, Sacramento High School and graduated from Chico State College, with a degree in teaching. She taught 8th grade History and English at Las Palmas Jr. High School for 39 yrs.
She and her late husband Bill loved to travel. They made many trips to
New York to attend the Opera and Broadway Shows, and cruised in many countries in Europe, enjoying the history and culture of each country visited.
They volunteered almost 50 yrs for The California Musical Theatre, and after her retirement from teaching, volunteered as Docents for the California State Capitol Museum for many years. They became very involved in reenacting Living History Day and the 1906 S.F. Earthquake. She conducted many sewing classes for other volunteers, in making period costumes that they wore. She was most proud of buying all the books and merchandise for the Capitol Book Store which she managed for many years.
She enjoyed reading and belonged to a Book Club which met once a month to digest the selected monthly book. For many years she enjoyed getting together with a lunch bunch group which met every Friday. She was a member for over 68 yrs. of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, an International Sorority that supports Cystic Fibrosis and other charities. She will be missed by many.
