Mary Freitas

Mary passed away peacefully at the age of 90. She is survived by her daughters, Teri Lynn Shilin (Danny) and Kathy Ann Gwiazdon (Dennis). Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Patrick Freitas and son, Michael Patrick Freitas.

She was a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Jordan Mitchell Gwiazdon, Taylor Patrick Gwiazdon and Alexandria Katherine Budenz. Mary also had four great grandchildren.  

Mary was an only child, born to Boyd and Hazel Oliver in Eureka, CA. She was raised in Eureka and Los Angeles, and also lived in Paradise, CA for a short time before relocating to the Sacramento area. Most of Mary’s career was spent as a receptionist in the medical field, working for physicians in Paradise, Citrus Heights and Carmichael, CA. She retired at age 60.

Her many hobbies included purchasing and restoring antique furniture, including a vast array of priceless antique clocks. She also took great pride in her large collection of Hummel figurines. Mary enjoyed beautifying her yard and was meticulous about the upkeep of her home. She had a special talent for arranging fresh flowers, even assisting with an occasional wedding for family and friends. Mary also loved to embroider and knit, taking great pride in the number of items she made and shared with the people she loved. Mary rarely turned down an opportunity for a fun game of cards or to travel, especially to the California Coast. 

Mary will be deeply missed and forever loved by all.
