Mary Tuyến Thị Đinh was a devout Catholic, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on February 11, 2023 at age 64 after battling cancer for 9 months. She is survived by her husband, four children and eight grandchildren.
She was born to Vực Văn Đinh (father) and Hồi Thị Phạm (mother) on June 25, 1958 in Huế, Vietnam. She grew up in Hậu Giang, Vietnam where she married and had two children. She courageously immigrated her family via boat to the United States in 1982 after spending 5 months in Thailand and 5 months in the Philippines as a Vietnam war refugee. In the US, she relocated to Oakland where she had two more children and had a 40 year career as a beautician until she retired in 2021. She moved to Sacramento in 2009 where she lived until the time of her passing.
Mary was devoted to her faith, dedicating time daily to prayers and her church community through active participation at mass and the choir. She was an avid reader of all genres and a green-thumb gardener. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved sharing wonderful stories of her life filled with struggles, hope and faith with her friends, children and grandchildren. She always made time to spend with anyone in need and was a great listener. She spoke with gentleness and love in each word uttered. Lunar New Years and other holidays were her favorite times of the year. During Lunar New Years she cherished making traditional Vietnamese Bánh Chưng for all her loved ones and to help the church fundraise.
