Marvin Lee Moore passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at the age of 76, losing to a short battle of Alzheimer's/Dementia. Marvin was born November 17, 1946, in Greeley, Colorado, to the late Benjamin and Linda (Schmidt) Moore who preceded him in death.
After graduating Pierce High School in 1964, Marvin enlisted in the US Army as a E-1 Private and was honorably discharged in 1967 as a E-5 Sergeant, Tank Commander in the 73rd Armor, earning a Sharpshooter Badge and a Medal for Good Conduct, out of Camp Roberts, CA.
Marvin married Joyce (Ley) Moore on February 25th, 1968 and spent 55 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his children Matthew (Jit) Moore, Stephanie (Jim) Simontacchi, granddaughter Carin Simontacchi, brother Wayne (Meredith) Moore, brother-in-law Ron (Marsha) Ley, Uncle to 3 nieces, Marie (Cobb) Tometich, Elizabeth (Moore) Bickel and Natalie Ley.
Marvin was a big brother, Veteran, Child of God, Loyal, hardworking, patient, playful and friend to many. He was a devoted Husband, proud Father, fun loving Uncle and Grandfather. Marvin was known for his quick-witted dry humor. While growing up in Colorado, his family frequently moved due to his father being a Crop Share Worker, renting various fields and farms to support the family. This is where he developed a love for farming and country living where he established his roots on a piece of property in Dixon, California for many years. His occupation ranged from being involved in fertilizer service operations, delivery driver, to spraying fields using a spray rig, dedicating over 40 years to the agriculture industry. Marvin was also a long-standing devoted member to the First Baptist Church in Davis, CA. Having a close relationship with God was very important to him. Lastly, no one was ever a stranger. He always went out of his way to make people feel welcome and right at home. He will truly be missed by all that he's crossed paths with.
Services: Visitation for Marvin will be held Saturday April 1st, 2023 at East Lawn Cemetery in Elk Grove. Viewing is from 1:00 - 2:00 PM and military honor service is at 2:00 PM. It will be live streamed.
Gravesite Services will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery located in Dixon on Monday April 3rd, 2023 at 11:30 AM.
A Celebration of Life will be determined at a later time.
