It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ann Nagel, aged 85, on April 7,
2023. Marilyn was born on May 17, 1937, in Lodi, California, to the late August Lutz and Teresa
Bono. She attended Bruella Elementary and Graduated from Lodi High School. Marilyn
cherished her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Julie, and grandchildren, J
and Macie. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her sister Margaret, and her
mother and father.
A proud Italian, Marilyn grew up in Lodi for the first decades of her life. She moved to
Sacramento two years before she married in 1957 and she spent over 60 years with her family
and community. She spent her career working with the State of California and the California
Highway Patrol for over 30 years, she retired in 1998.
She was an avid bocce player and expert chef who loved shopping, shoes, and a dirty martini
(with bleu cheese olives). Above all else, she cherished spending time with her family and
friends cooking and entertaining no matter where she was. When her first grandchild was born
in July 1990, Marilyn adopted the nickname Noni as many knew her in an homage to her Italian
heritage and the joys of being a grandmother.
Noni will be remembered for her kind heart, her ability to see the best in others, and her
unwavering support of the San Francisco 49ers. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration in her honor will be held on May 17, 2023, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Dante
Club in Sacramento.
