Maria Antioneta Zenteno-Hernandez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Antonieta Zenteno-Hernandez. Lovingly known as “Antonieta,” she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Maria Antonieta was born to Jose Antonio and Lydia Zenteno (Papa Tono y Ñaña) and grew up in a nurturing environment that instilled in her the values of love, family, and resilience. She was a devoted wife of 54 years to her late husband, Jose C. Hernandez, with whom she shared a beautiful life filled with treasured memories and love.

A proud mother, Maria Antonieta deeply loved her children, Lorena Hernandez, Evelyn Hernandez-Smith (Tony Smith), and Daniel Hernandez, who cherished every moment spent with her. Her spirit lives on in her grandchildren—Taylor, Áva, Naomi, Lauren, Kendall, and Issac—who brought her immense pride and joy.

Maria Antonieta was deeply connected to her siblings, Merce, Tere, Angelita, Gladys, Julio, and Roberto. She shared a special bond with each of them, and the love she had for her numerous nieces and nephews was a testament to her nurturing heart, treating them as her own.

A woman of great strength and kindness, Antonieta touched the lives of all who knew her. Her laughter, wisdom, and support will be profoundly missed but cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.

A celebration of Maria Antonieta's life will be held on Sunday, January 12th, at East Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, a cause close to her heart.

Maria Antonieta will be remembered for her love, kindness, and the legacy of family she leaves behind. May she rest in peace, surrounded by God’s love and light forever.
