Margaret Alice Norton

August 1, 1941 — January 2, 2024

Sacramento

It is with great sorrow that we announce that Margaret (Judy) Alice Norton passed away at 82, on 1/2/2024. Born August 1, 1941 in Montgomery, Alabama she was the only child of Margaret Ingram & Harry Summerlin. Judy met her beloved husband, Felix (Tex) Norton in 1958 while he was serving in the Air Force. Four months later, they were married, and the following year Michael Norton was born. After many years of being stationed in various parts of the world such as Ankara, Turkey, the family settled in California at the McClellan AFB in 1971.

Judy was avid bowler for over 40 years. She won several local tournaments, City Tournament Singles, and All Events (twice), as well as the Ladies Camellia Lanes Queens event in 1975. Judy also bowled several local leagues with a high game of 288 and high average 197. She also was a member of the Sacramento 600 Club for over 15 years.

For a short period in 1977, Judy worked at Woodhaven Lanes. In 1978, she was hired by Sacramento County, Voter Registration where she worked for over 18 years. Judy retired in 1996 ending her career as a full time Supervisor.

Judy had a passion for gambling; whether it was pulling the handle for poker slots in Lake Tahoe, Reno, Las Vegas or just scratching off lottery tickets. Her main passion was yelling BINGO! She loved playing Bingo and made so many friends that she played for over 35 years.

Judy was always compassionate to everyone she knew, and loved her family dearly. In 2017, after 42 years living in North Highlands, Judy and Tex moved to Orangevale to live on shared property and right next door to her son and daughter-in-law, where family was around 24/7. Numerous holidays, birthdays and Sunday family dinners were spent together.

Judy is survived by her husband Felix (Tex) Norton of 65 years, her son Mike Norton (Sue), her grandchildren who she loved, Nicole Kilpatrick (Jason), Amanda Pudge (Tyler), Kyle Norton (Carolyn), and her 5 great-grandchildren that she adored so much, Ava, Addison, Kaiden, Kennedy, & Cruz; along with extended family and dear friends.

She will be missed by all.
