Margaret âPeggyâ Sheaffer passed into the arms of God on October 18th, 2022 at John Muir hospital in Walnut Creek, CA. She was 96 years old.
Peggy was born in Lancaster, PA to Lee Roy Martin Herr and Ruth Ellen Frantz Herr. She graduated from J.P. McCaskey high school in 1944, and studied at Millersville State Teachers College for a year and a half before her marriage to Wallace Sheaffer. Wally and Peggy moved several times during their life together, living in Lancaster and Elizabethtown, PA, Granite City, IL, and St. Louis, MO, before settling in Antelope, CA for many years.
Peggy was always very active. She was involved in various committees with her church, The Northminster Presbyterian Church in Sacramento, including the hunger committee, Nimble Thimbles, and a variety of other activities. She enjoyed creating table decorations, making cards, arranging flowers, and refinishing furniture. She was a girl scout leader and belonged to NARF. She played sports (swim team and field hockey), and she worked much of her lifeâat a pharmacy, for an optometrist, and at a bridal shop.
Peggy loved to feed her family. When visitors came, her fridge was always full. She made brownies for every visit, and always had full candy bowls around the house. She went to lunch every week with her friends.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Deborah Sheaffer of Walnut Creek, CA, her son Wallace Sheaffer III of Denver, CO, and her granddaughter Carrie Sheaffer of Denver, CO.
