Madeline (Maggie) Chow Wong

Peacefully passed away with her family by her side on December 29, 2024. She was 84 years old. Madeline was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on September 26, 1940. She was the Loving Sister of Veronica Kagetsu, Vivian Wong, Benny Chow, Susan Ho, and Jerome Chow; Beloved Mother of Janyce, Jason, and Jeffrey (Gina); Loving Grandmother of Corinne (Jacob), Danielle (Michael), Brandon, and Evan; and Overjoyed Great-Grandmother of Jaxton, Margaux, and Quinn. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Helena Chow; her Sisters Anna Chow and Connie Ho; and her Loving Husband of 60 years Jack Wong. She was the second child of eight siblings.

During her childhood, Maggie took great joy in taking care of her younger siblings and helping her father with the family photography studio, Yucho Chow Studio, where her love of photography developed. She attended MacDonald Elementary, Templeton High School and graduated from King Edward High School. In 1960 she met her beloved husband Jack Wong and was married in 1962. Shortly after, they moved to Sacramento, California where they started their family. They were married for 60 years.

Madeline had a successful career working in the banking industry and retired from Wells Fargo Bank after over 30 years of service. She loved photography, playing the piano, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and playing mahjong with friends. In retirement she enjoyed long roadtrips to Canada to visit family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Sacramento Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps, Bingo Fundraiser as their Bingo Caller every Saturday morning for years, and took many bus trips to local casinos for a day of fun.

Despite her health issues and losing her eyesight for the past few years, Maggie was a very strong-willed woman and never let anything deter her from her goals. In her past time, she would still continue to crochet beautiful afghan blankets and donate them to friends, families, local charities, and churches.
