Lois Lillian Dye, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 102 in Boise, Idaho. Born on April 9, 1922, in Oakland, California, Lois lived a life marked by love, family, and an unbreakable bond with her twin sister.
After graduating from Davis High School in 1940 and attending Sacramento Junior College, Lois worked briefly for the telephone company before fully embracing her role as a homemaker. This was a job she loved deeply, finding joy in the simple pleasures of caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home.
Lois was the beloved matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her sons, Drew (Sharyn) Dye of Eugene, OR, and Harold (Patricia) Dye of Caldwell, ID; and her daughter, Susan (Robert) Gonzales of Nampa, ID. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Jennifer (David) DeMink of Castle Rock, CO; Tracy Lima of Sacramento, CA; Philip (Andrea) Dye of Portland, OR; and John (Karissa) Pagliero of Cameron Park, CA. The family circle expanded further with her special niece and nephews, her beloved cousins, and her nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Lois was predeceased by her loving husband, Eugene Dye of Sacramento, CA; her beloved twin sister, Jeanne Strickland of Sacramento; her brothers, Harold Slatter of Davis, CA Joseph Slatter of King City, CA; her sister, Marilyn Slatter of Sacramento, CA; and her grandson, Paul Dye.
Throughout her life, Lois lived in various places in California and even spent some time in Venezuela and travelling the world. She eventually settled in Boise, Idaho, to be closer to her children. Her final years were spent at the Salmon Creek retirement home, where she cultivated new friendships and continued to engage with the community around her.
Her relationship with her twin sister, Jeanne, was a source of endless joy and companionship. Together, they maintained a delightful tradition of nightly dinners, sipping on Manhattans, alternating between each other's homes. They continued their close-knit bond well into their 90s, taking regular walks and playfully ensuring they never wore the same color clothes to avoid matching.
Lois's love for her family was rivaled only by her zest for life and her infectious spirit. Her home was one of laughter, storytelling, and the kind of wisdom that can only be gained through a well-lived century. Her guidance and unconditional love shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her memory will be a beacon of light for generations to come.
Lois's passing on Christmas Day, a time of family gathering and celebration, is a poignant reminder of how much she valued togetherness and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones. Her spirit and legacy will continue to be celebrated by all who knew her, and her stories will be retold with fondness and admiration.
Lois Lillian Dye lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of many and leaving this world better for her presence. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a guiding force, a loving mother, and a true friend. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her husband, Eugene, and her twin sister, Jeanne, in eternal peace. Her grace, resilience, and the love she shared will never be forgotten.
