Lois Rae Cabelera

November 28, 1932 — November 7, 2023

Sacramento, CA

Lois Rae Cabelera was born November 28, 1932, and went home to be with her Lord November 7, 2023.
Lois was the beloved wife of Richard for almost 73 years, and loving mother to Gary Cabelera, Richard Cabelera, and Lynn Sheley.  She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Shelly Cabelera and son-in-law, Jon Sheley.  She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth, and grandchildren Gary Cabelera and Misty Patterson.  Lois is also survived by precious grandchildren Miranda Galovich (Tim), Zachary Sheley, Jocelyn Wedgeworth (Layton), and Aidan Cabelera. She will be missed by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well.
She was born in Walthill, Nebraska, on the Omaha Indian Reservation. Her great-grandmother was full-blooded Omaha Indian. When she was two years old, her family moved to California where she resided in Dixon and Lodi. They finally settled in Sacramento. She attended Sierra Elementary, California Jr. High, and graduated from McClatchy High School in 1951.
Lois was always affiliated with a church, be it Methodist, Presbyterian, or Christian Alliance. When she attended Bethel Temple on 21st and W Streets in 1956, she finally found her home. She faithfully attended church with her three little ones, often having to find someone to pick them up because Richard worked Sundays. She became a first-class volunteer, whether it be teaching children’s church, singing in choir, assisting with communion, or helping in the church office. She eventually ended up working in the church office for 17 years, and these were some of the best times of her life.
To know her was to love her. She exemplified beauty in every way. She was kind, joyful, positive, strong, radiant, forgiving, and non-judgmental.  She was a constant, loyal, and faithful friend. She always put Christ first and lived a life devoted to her Lord.
Services for Lois will be held November 28 at 11am at New Life Community Church, 8101 Sunset Ave, Fair Oaks.
