Linda Jainn Liu, a brilliant mind, a mom, and a wife, passed away on Aug 19, 2022 at 84 years of age.  Her influence on her family, including her brothers, was deep and profound and will never be forgotten. Born in Shandong, China, she traveled to Taiwan when Communism swept China. She built a life with Bob Ming-Chieng, starting out as poor students that immigrated to the United States from Taiwan, going from San Diego to Corvallis, and eventually to Sacramento, where she worked at UC Davis in the Viticulture and Enology department. Anyone who drinks Cabernet Sauvignon should be grateful for her contributions to the phylloxera research that inspired the vines to be grown in California. She brought over her brothers and parents, and helped them to establish their lives here. She cared deeply and her love was strong and we are all blessed to have known and loved her and will miss her dearly. It was a peaceful death, after a long struggle with dementia and kidney failure. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and two grandchildren. Â
