Letha Virginia Miller lovingly known as Jinks passed away from this life on July 20, 2023. Born January 14, 1923 near Shelbyville, Illinois, daughter of Clyde and Ella Reider, she was one of eight children and is survived by her sister Alice Bostick.

Virginia is the wife of Donald J. Miller (deceased) and mother of seven children, two baby boys preceded her in death Bryon and Daniel. The remaining children include Cheryl (Conrad) Bills, Michael (Becky) Miller, Dara (Doug) Harmon, Deah Perugini, and Tim Miller. Also, included in her posterity are 20 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Virginia married Don in 1942 and soon began a life of moving because of his job in the U.S. Air Force. She was the one who kept the “home fires burning” while Don was overseas or “pulling” alerts away from family during his 26 years of service. She was a homemaker using her many talents for her family and for others. She was accomplished in embroidery, crochet, sewing and cake decorating. One talent she developed was making and dipping chocolates. A talent not only enjoyed by her family, but also used as a building fundraiser for a new church house in North Dakota. She enjoyed collecting dolls and doing crafts. Her love of plants extended from inside to outside where she spent hours tending to her roses and a large variety of plants.

Virginia was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the many parts of the United States they lived, she served faithfully in various callings from working with children, youth and women to years in the church library. Here fondest memories were working 14 years with Don in the Oakland California Temple. She and Don also served 30 months in the “Labor of Love” mission, helping others with researching their family’s history.

Virginia was a prolific letter writer and card sender. Up until her eyesight was dimming, she sent birthday cards to her large posterity. In all her 100 plus years nothing brought her greater joy than hearing news about her family.

A viewing will be held at East Lawn Cemetery, 5757 Greenback Lane, Thursday July 27th, 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
