Laureana Timoteo Dizon

July 15, 1923 — January 5, 2023

On Thursday, January 5th, our beloved mother and grandmother, Laureana Timoteo Dizon
passed away at the age of 99 years old from late-stage dementia.
Laureana was born on July 4, 1923 to parents Eulalia and Baldomero Timoteo in Sta Maria,
Illocos Sur in the Philippines. However, due to a storm in her province, her official birthdate was
not registered until July 15, 1923. She was the oldest child in her family and had two brothers:
Maximino and Pedro.
Laureana grew up and lived in a time of great uncertainty. She lived through the era of the Great
Depression and World War II in the Philippines. She went to school and graduated with a BS in
Education from Far Eastern University in Manila in 1951. She later married Cresencio Dizon in
1952 and had four children: Luisito, Marilou, Nanette, and Oliver.
Later on in life, she migrated to the United States in 1978 with her husband and four children to
seek a better life. They settled in San Francisco and lived with her parents Eulalia and
Baldomero. She worked as a seamstress in the city for many years and she was very active in
the senior citizen Filipino-American social community through the Legionarios Del Trabajo en
America. She was a part of Noli Mayon Kalapati-Ligaya Lodge where she served as treasurer
for many years. She loved going to dances and events in the community and she was known to
be a very warm, kind and generous person to everyone she was around.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, Laureana welcomed her grandchildren: Lawrence, Andrew, Lee,
Annie, and Chris to her family. In her later years, she moved to Elk Grove and lived with her
daughter Marilou. She continued to sew in her free time and made clothes and curtains for her
friends and family. During the summer, she loved to pick fruits and vegetables in her garden.
She also loved to socialize, help with cooking, and playing bingo and slots when people came to
visit her. She will surely be missed and may she rest in peace.
Please join us for her viewing and wake on Thursday, January 12th from 5 to 8 PM Pacific Time
