Laura Malvelia Torres

August 18, 1956 — December 30, 2024

Sacramento

Laura Malvelia Torres went home to be with the Lord on December 30th, 2024. She was born on August 18th, 1956 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She was a Military brat along with her four siblings, growing up in multiple places such as Florida, Las Vegas, and Panama, where she graduated from Balboa High School, class of 1974. She married Felix Torres, affectionately known as Chino, and went on to raise their two children, Malvelia Lopez and Felix G Torres.

“Elegance is a glowing inner peace. Grace is an ability to give as well as to receive and be thankful. Mystery is a hidden laugh always ready to surface. Glamour only radiates if there is a sublime courage and bravery within: glamour is like the moon; it only shines because the sun is there.” Laura was the sun everyone revolved around. She was a warm, welcoming, and positive person. A caring and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She once said her greatest accomplishments were her marriage, raising her two children, her grandchildren, and being there whenever she was needed. She loved to be of help and was always hospitable. Her love for life presented itself in ways such as throwing parties, dancing, and singing.

She found joy in the simple things and through God, to Whom she always remained faithful. She enjoyed movies, baking elaborate cakes for birthdays and weddings, sewing, and gardening. To have known Laura, is to have known the true definition of “good and faithful servant,” who has impacted many with her pure heart and giving spirit.

Laura is preceded in death by her mother and father, Anita and Gil Serrano, husband Felix Torres, and daughter Malvelia Lopez.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory - her son, Felix G Torres, her five grandchildren, Jessica Lopez, Lilliana Torres, Addyson Torres, Melanie Torres, and Christopher Torres, and her three great-grandchildren Jalessa Lopez, Giovanni Funicellio, and Malvelia Funicellio. She is survived by her siblings, Anna Celia Ortiz, Gil W Serrano, Debora Melendez, and Daniel Serrano.
