Kiem Do (1935-2025) passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, after a long and meaningful life. Born in Hanoi, Vietnam, Kiem later migrated to Saigon in 1954 following the First Indochina War which divided the country creating a communist North Vietnam and a non-communist South Vietnam. In Saigon, he would later meet and marry his wife, Sinh, of 53 years. In April 1975, Kiem and his family would immigrate to the United States as the Vietnam War ended. Settling in the Sacramento area, Kiem held various jobs as dishwasher and ship builder before finally retiring from his long 25-year career working for the State of California. In retirement, Kiem enjoyed physical exercise. He went to the fitness gym daily. Staying physically fit was his passion. He was always very excited to go to the gym each morning. In July 2025, Kiem had a fall when he was leaving the gym and suffered a brain bleed. He would later succumb to these injuries in November. Kiem is survived by his wife, his son Tuan and his daughter in-law Christina, and his granddaughter, Arielle. Kiem’s legacy of strength and integrity will live on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. A memorial service will be held at East Lawn – Elk Grove on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at noon (viewing) and service at 1 PM.
