Kevin Shawn Howard

Kevin Shawn Howard entered this world July 13^th, 1962 to Elsie Petrea Andersen and Keith Stott Howard. Kevin was born in Murray, Utah and moved to California at the age of 27, where he met and married his soulmate, Lisa. They were married on December 22, 1991. Kevin was the epitome of a doting father to his children Kevin (KC) and Kayla, who were the lights of his life.

Kevin graduated from Kearns High School in 1980. In his early years, he loved working at Old Home Bakery in Salt Lake City, Utah along with various other employment opportunities. He moved to California in 1989 and began working for Consolidated Freightways until 2002. In 2002, he became employed with Yellow Roadway Corporation and had been with the company for nearly 19 years.

Kevin was known for having a heart of gold and a hard working spirit. His greatest joy was his family: immediate and extended. If he knew you, you were family and he would treat you as such. He loved cooking and grilling and would always try new recipes. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was always the life of the party. Kevin was the world's biggest jokester and would taunt and tease just about anyone he knew. His sarcasm and quick wit was a gift. Kevin loved camping and exploring the outdoors. When he was a young man, he was an avid woodworker. He loved watching football and playing baseball and softball. Kevin was a role model to all those that met him. His presence was powerful and tangible in an overwhelming way. His warm, genuine nature was indescribable.

Kevin is survived by his wife Lisa, children Kevin (KC)/Stevie Howard and Kayla/Brenden Thornburgh, and grandchildren Sawyer and Paisyn Howard. He is also survived by his mother Elsie Howard, brother Jeff (Shelly) Howard, sisters: Trudy Foster, Leslie (Craig) Marsing, Patti Aitken, Teresa (Jeff) Atkinson, brothers-in-law Jerry Royer, Johnny Eszlinger, Neil (Dawn) Johnson, Dale Eszlinger, and Duane Eszlinger and sisters-in-law Shelley (Kurt) Clark and Tina (Michael) Whiteman, and countless nieces and nephews.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father Keith Howard, brother Keith Howard, Jr., sister Trixie Royer, father-in-law William Melton, mother-in-law Diane Eszlinger, brothers-in-law Dale Foster and Glen Aitken, sisters-in-law Debbie VanMatre Howard, Donna Lacey and Lori Otten, and nephew Lucas Aitken.

Kevin’s family will host a service at 11:30AM on Friday, September 3^rd, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3621 Elverta Road, Antelope, CA 95843. There will be an additional service in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 at 11:00AM at the Kearns 14th Ward at 4232 West 5015 South, Kearns, Utah.

Kevin passed away at the age of 59 years old in Antelope, CA on Monday, August 30th. Our family wishes to express gratitude for the dignified, loving and determined care rendered to Kevin at Mercy San Juan during efforts to save his life.
