Katherine M Lambert

October 28, 1938 — February 24, 2024

Carmichael, California

The Lambert family is celebrating the life of Katherine (Kay) Lambert who passed on peacefully February 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born on October 28,1938 in Burlington Iowa to Richard F. and Millicent Macheak. Kay lived in Iowa until Jr. High when they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota along with her oldest sister Mary, and younger sisters Carol and Jan. Kay met her husband Gene in Sioux Falls, married in 1958 in Winona, Minnesota, gave birth to Carolyn and moved to California in 1960. It is here that Kay and Gene, happily married for 27 years, fulfilled their greatest goal of raising a family, Carolyn, Cathy, and Steve. Once Kay’s children entered High School, she found passionate purpose in a rewarding career as Credit Manager at Blue Diamond Almonds, retiring in 2001.

After Gene’s passing (in 1985), Kay was lucky to find love again with her long-time partner John Rowland and after his death, Vern Powers.

Kay was preceded in death by her father Richard, mother Millicent, sister Mary and husband Gene.

Kay is survived by her daughters Carolyn (Lee) and Cathy (Paul) and her son Steve, her grandchildren Michelle (Alex), Julie, Erin (Thuan), and Kyle, and her great grandchildren Isaac and Edwin. She is also survived by her sister Carol of Arizona, her sister Jan (Brian) of California, brother-in law Terry (Sue) of North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

Kay enjoyed spending family meals together, visiting with Kay and Gene’s families in South Dakota, singing in choirs, hiking in the mountains, playing Pictionary with family, cheering on her grandkids in their various activities, playing bridge with friends, watching sports with Gene, traveling to Ft. Bragg, Cambria, Point Reyes, and points beyond.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Our deepest gratitude to the Atria El Camino Gardens Life Guidance staff for their care and love for Mom and our family.

Mom would often say “My goal each day is to make someone laugh”.
