In Loving Memory of Judy Lee
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Judy Lee of Fair Oaks, California, on May 25, 2025, at the age of 99&1/2. A cherished mother, grandmother (popo/yinyin), and great-grandmother(bakbak), she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength.
Born on October 17, 1925, as Fung Sim Louie, she was a vibrant presence in the lives of all who knew her. Judy was a devoted mother to Sally (Jim, dec.), Arthur (Debbie), Terry (Ming-shin), and Stanley (Mimi). She found immense joy in being a loving grandmother to Steven, Bradley, Tyler, Jessica, Julia, Ryan, Kristine, Brittany, Bryce, Jordan, Madison, and Michelle, and a great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Andy Louie (Helen).
Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Philip M. Lee.
She was born in Toishan, China, to William and Helen Louie. A teacher in China before marriage, Judy met the love of her life, Man On (Philip) whom she married in 1948. She honeymooned in Hong Kong before emigrating to the United States. She made the journey while pregnant, enduring a month-long ship voyage to start a new life in California.
In 1951 the family moved to Boise Idaho, where Judy and Philip worked tirelessly on the family truck farm for over 14 years while raising four children. Seeking a better life, they returned to Sacramento where they opened Parade Market, a large independent grocery store in Orangevale, California. For twenty-two years they worked together to ensure its success. Through hard work and sacrifice, they ensured that all their children receive a college education.
Judy enjoyed gardening and large family gatherings and never missed a chance to encourage her grandchildren to bless her with more great grandchildren, always wanting the family to grow.
Mom will be deeply missed. Her memory will be our keepsake, and she will be forever cherished in our hearts.
A private memorial service will be held on June 22, 2025, at East Lawn Mortuary Sierra Hills Memorial Park Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association https://donors.diabetes.org
