Judith A. Tomlinson of Elk Grove, lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2022, supported by her friends and surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of Mervin and Vada Chambers and born on July 15, 1941, in Fortuna, CA. Judy grew up in Petaluma, CA with her brother Gerry and sister Jane and graduated from Petaluma High School in 1959. Judy attended Sacramento State College where she earned her bachelorâs degree and teaching credential. It was there that she met Richard Tomlinson. They married 1962 and remained in Sacramento, CA to raise their family. While being a dedicated wife and mother, Judy wore may part-time hats. She was a piano teacher at Cosumnes River College, Lead Proctor for the state of California, usher at the Sacramento Community Theatre, member of the choir and staff parish committee at Florin United Methodist Church, director of vendors at the California State Fair, volunteer for the Elks Lodge. She also worked full time for State of CA Board of Accountancy long enough to earn a retirement.
Judy was always willing to make phone calls, ask questions, volunteer, and help to get the job done. She was a wealth of information, the âgo toâ person for many. Judy connected deeply with people and will surely be missed.
Judy orchestrated many family reunions and gatherings, travel and camping trips. She valued her long friendships with the âAwesome 8â. Her greatest moments of joy were being a loving and supporting Gramma by attending sport games, plays, recitals, graduations, and birthdays.
Judyâs memory lives on in the hearts of her husband Richard and their four children, Andrew (Shanna), Karen Combrink (Scott), Martin (Wendy), and David (Christina) and her 9 grandchildren Alexis (23), Derek (23), Lucas (22), Sarah (21), Camille Combrink (20), Travis (18), Colette Combrink (16), Danielle (15), and Cara Combrink (14).
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Jane Kibler, and brother-in-law Ronald Tomlinson. She is survived by her husband Richard Tomlinson, children and grandchildren, brother Gerry Chambers and sister-in-law Darlene Chambers of Placerville, CA and brother-in-law Jerry Kibler of Petaluma, CA.
