Joyce I. Johnston

Joyce peacefully left this earth at her home at age 78 with her loving brother and friends at her side. She was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She was preceded in death by her father Jack R. Wittmier, her mother Echo (Bower) Wittmier, and her husband James Johnston. She is survived by her brother Jack Robert Wittmier of Folsom, CA and her many friends.

Joyce was a life time member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, graduated from Sacramento State University with BA and MA degrees in music, and was an accomplished vocalist and pianist. She was a registered Animal Health Technician, loved all animals (except for wild turkeys), raised and cherished a number of dogs and pot-bellied pigs, and nursed both an orphaned coyote and deer to health living together in her home. She was appreciated for her directness, humor, wonderful desserts, and caring for others. A private grave side service will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in East Sacramento.
