Sacramento, California - Joy MacCrakin, 85 passed away December 7, 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Joy was born September 27, 1937, in Wewoka OK to Lige and Etta Boyd. She was the ninth of nine children and proud of her position in the family as the youngest and only girl of eight brothers.
Joy settled in Sacramento where she lived over 50 years and had a long and successful career in the banking industry and eventually retired from Union Bank here in Sacramento.
She loved to read, travel attend live theater and musicals. She kept busy being actively involved as a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Soroptimist International Sacramento North. There she met many members that became her life-long friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald MacCrakin, her son, Arthur Montmorency III, her parents, Lige and Etta Boyd, her brothers, Manuel, Ray, Mitchell, Don, Jay, Doyle, Loyle and Jerry Boyd.
Joy is survived by her stepdaughters, Marilyn MacCrakin, Kathie Jeffries and Laura Brothers, all of Sacramento, along with many friends and a host of family members.
She will be greatly missed by her loving family and remembered in their hearts as "The wonderful Aunt Joy". She had a bond and a special love for all of her nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Joy will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 11:00 a.m. East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento, CA.
