José Luis Silva
November 2, 1968 – August 25, 2024
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of José Luis Silva, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and a passion for life.
A proud Marine Corps veteran, José served his country from 1990 to 1995, achieving the rank of Sargeant. It was during his military service that he began his 30-year career in telecommunications, where he was known for his expertise, leadership, and unwavering work ethic.
In 2017, José Luis was blessed with a liver transplant, a life-saving gift that enabled him to meet the love of his life, Michelle. Together, they built a home filled with love, warmth, and laughter. This second chance at life also allowed José Luis to become a grandfather to his precious granddaughter, who quickly became another great love in his life.
José Luis was an avid rugby player, and he played with the Old Breed Rugby team from near its infancy. He loved the game deeply and missed it profoundly after having to quit due to his liver transplant. His passion for rugby reflected his zest for life and the camaraderie he enjoyed with his teammates.
Family was everything to José Luis, and he found his greatest happiness in the company of those he loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; his precious daughters, Kyra and Madeline; his devoted stepdaughters, Lunden and Sahara; and his granddaughter, Felita. He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Ofelia; his sisters, Gloria, Chila, Chela, Alicia, and Cynthia; and his brothers, Jesus Jr. and James. José’s extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many more who loved him, will forever hold him in their hearts.
Let's not forget his loyal and loving dog, Bandit, who was always by his side, offering unconditional companionship.
José Luis died as he lived—embracing life with passion and joy. After visiting his beloved granddaughter, he set out on his motorcycle, enjoying the freedom and thrill that brought him so much happiness. His sudden passing leaves a void in our hearts, but we find comfort in knowing he spent his final moments doing what he loved.
José Luis was the life of the party, known for his infectious laughter, warm hugs, and famous "Dad" jokes. He had a gift for capturing memories, taking thousands of photos throughout his life. These photos now serve as a treasured way to remember and honor his legacy.
In honor of José Luis' memory, we ask that donations be made to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), an organization close to his heart. Contributions can be made through our Facebook fundraiser at https://facebook.com/donate/523628613369059/.
He will be laid to rest with military honors at a military cemetery, where he will be forever remembered as a hero, both to his country and to his family.
Thank you for helping us turn our grief into hope, just as José Luis would have wanted.
