Jose “Andy” P Torres

It is with great sadness to share that Jose Pangan Torres had passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024 in Sacramento, California at the age of 71.

Jose “Andy” P. Torres was born on January 13, 1953 in Manila, Philippines to Teofilo & Proserfina Torres. He was the sixth of the twelve siblings.

Andy, as he was fondly called, attended school in the Philippines. He went to Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at San Carlos Seminary. He studied for his Master’s at De La Salle University. He migrated to the United States in 1981 and first started work as a clerk at the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. He later worked as a mail carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service in November 2014.

Andy was married to Florinda for 15 years and lived in Elk Grove together with his three stepchildren, Kyle, Rigg, and Lance.

Andy is lovingly remembered for his great sense of humor, simplicity, great love for his family, and a very strong foundation of his Catholic faith.

He loved music and karaoke. He was passionate about gardening and was very fond of flowers. As an animal lover, he liked to feed stray cats and dogs. Andy enjoyed watching live concerts and YouTube videos, especially food and travel vlogs.

Andy was preceded in death by parents Teofilo & Proserfina, and siblings Miguel, Danilo, Ruben, and Rebecca.

Andy is survived by his spouse Florinda, stepsons Kyle, Rigg, and Lance, siblings Jocelyn, Carlos (Mars) Torres, Teresa (Rob) Kratz, Jay (Agnes) Torres, Rene (Florife) Torres, Arlene (Jun) Basa, Edwin (Ivy) Torres, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and cousins.

A life well lived, his memories will remain in our hearts forever. Sing with the angels, Andy. Rest in paradise.
