Johnny Gene Kwong, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 22, 2025 at the age of 67. Johnny was born on January 16, 1958 in Sacramento, California to Yuet Hay and Lee Kwong.
After graduating from Sacramento High School, Johnny attended California State University, Sacramento, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He dedicated 35+ years of his life working for UPS from delivering packages to providing customer service.
In 2001, Johnny married the love of his life, his wife Cindy Xue Yong Kwong. Together they had two daughters, Michelle and Jennifer. Johnny was an amazing father, always proud of his daughters’ accomplishments. He chaperoned every field trip his daughters had when he had the opportunity to, always making sure to bring candy to share with their classmates.
Johnny was truly loved by his big loving family. He is survived by his wife: Cindy, his daughters: Michelle and Jennifer, his sisters: Judy Keikoan (Bruce), Diane Hong (Steve), May Woo (Tom), Jane Ham (Bill), and Linda Fong (Rob) and his nieces and nephews: Erin (Mike), Eric (Jayann), Lisa, Christina (Ed), Stephanie, Ryan, Lauren, Ellie, Miaoying, Jianbin, Zijun, Ryelee, Zi Hao, and Jullianna, who all brought immense joy to his life.
Johnny was known for being kindhearted, caring, and generous. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family as well as catching up with neighbors. During the holidays, Johnny baked delicious sweet treats for his neighbors to show his appreciation for them. Johnny also enjoyed striking up conversations with people at the stores any chance he got.
During his free time, Johnny loved collecting Hot Wheels. He has collected thousands of unique Hot Wheels, always looking for new ones to add to his collection when at the grocery stores. Johnny also collected sports cards, Pokémon cards, old Happy Meal Toys, and bicycles. He enjoyed telling people about his collections, showing them pictures of all his Hot Wheels and bicycles. Johnny was always eager to share his Hot Wheels and Pokémon card collection with those who also had a passion for them.
When not adding to his collection of Hot Wheels, Johnny spent his time watching NBA and NFL games. He was a diehard fan of the Sacramento Kings and the San Francisco 49ers. Even though the teams do not have the best records, he always clapped and cheered them on while wearing their jerseys for good luck as he watched from home.
Viewing will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95819 on February 7, 2025 10-11am. Service at 11am. Burial will follow.
