John Wilber Rodrigues, a lifelong resident of the Sacramento area with deep roots in its river communities, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on March 1, 1931, in Sacramento, California, John was the son of John F. Rodrigues and Virginia Mary Young, who later became known as Virginia Mary Rodrigues Cofer.

John proudly served his country in the United States military, embodying the discipline and dedication that defined much of his life. In his younger years, he ventured to Memphis, Tennessee, where he owned and operated a restaurant, bringing his entrepreneurial spirit to the vibrant local scene. Later returning to Sacramento, John owned Pocket Security, contributing to the safety and well-being of his community.

A man of precise standards, John always liked things done a certain way. He was known for his signature saying: "Humble, good looking, and had plenty of money"—a humorous reflection of his confident and charismatic personality. John was a gifted storyteller, captivating friends and family with tales from his rich and varied experiences. Later in life, he was saved by the Lord and became a faithful follower of Christ, finding profound peace and purpose in his faith.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Rodrigues and Virginia Mary Rodrigues Cofer, and his brother, Stanley Rodrigues. He is survived by his children, Rick Parker and Rachel Rodrigues, as well as extended family members and cherished friends.

Tied to the historic Freeport area, John's family had strong connections to the region's maritime heritage, including the Freeport Marina once owned by his mother, Virginia. In his later years, John found great peace sitting under the sun in his beautifully maintained backyard, simply enjoying the view of his yard and the tranquility it brought.

A man of quiet strength, warmth, and unwavering character, John will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of simple pleasures, and the many stories that brought joy to those around him.

John's family extends heartfelt gratitude for the condolences and support during this time. He will be deeply missed.
