Jody Martinez

Jody Carpenter (Cornelison) (Carlson) Martinez left this world on Saturday morning, April 16, 2022. She passed away peacefully in her home in Sacramento, California, after a long illness.

She was 67 years old.

Jody was born on March 5, 1955, in Tucson, Arizona to Ted H Carpenter and Imogene Jensen Carpenter. She lived in El Paso TX, Flagstaff, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, Houston, TX, Carmichael, CA, Lotus, CA and Sacramento, CA. Jody worked at Arden Middle School as a campus monitor, where she was a listening ear and trusted friend to so many students and staff there.

On January 6, 1980, Cassidee Cornelison was born.
On April 20, 1981, Codee Cornelison was born.
On March 1, 1983, Lacey Cornelison was born.

Jody’s three beautiful daughters, and the grandchildren they would bring to the family, were her greatest treasures.

On June 28, 2005, Jody married Ron Martinez, the man of her dreams. They bought a new home, decorated it, and made so many wonderful plans for the future. But the future had different ideas.

Jody became ill in 2014. This extended illness kept her bedridden until her death, nine years later. Ron became the most incredible caregiver for the entire time she was ill. Her cheerful attitude and sweetness of her spirit could not be contained. She was full of laughter, often poking fun at herself. She loved to laugh and joke, and always made everyone feel important and loved. During this time, Jody and Ron became converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their faith in our Lord and Savior grew strong and unwavering.

Jody is survived by her husband Ronald Patrick Martinez of Sacramento, California. Her children are Cassidee McGowan (Dalton) of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Codee Bell (Randy) of Lindon, Utah, Lacey Whitworth (Seth) of North Ogden, Utah, and stepdaughter Dana LeAnn Martinez-Lopez (Glenn) of Sacramento, CA. Her mother is Imogene Jensen Carpenter of Carmichael, California. Her siblings are Karen Carpenter Macfarlane Mueller (Monty) of Orangeville California, Danalea Carpenter Cope (Denny) of Phoenix, Arizona, Ted Elliott Carpenter (KayLea) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kelly Carpenter Patrick (Craig) of Orem, Utah.

Jody has nine beloved grandchildren: Dallas Macoy McGowan, Jamison Wyatt Bell, Jensen Bell, Cortland Dean Bell, Abigail Whitworth, Brigham Mason Whitworth, Emily Whitworth, Hyrum Joseph Whitworth and step granddaughter Jessica Adrianne Vargas (Ruben).

She was preceded in death by her father, Ted H Carpenter.
