Joanne Elizabeth Hormel

Joanne Elizabeth Hormel left us on June 29, 2022 from complications of a stroke. She was surrounded by her family at the home of her son Michael in El Dorado Hills California. Joanne was the beloved wife of sixty years to Willis Dean Hormel, who pre-deceased her in 2018, mother to Michael, James, Robert, Susan and Matthew, grandmother to nine and great-grandmother to three.
Joanne was born in Mankato, Minnesota to Alfred and Betty Culhane in 1932. She was raised in Napa, California and graduated from Holy Names College in Oakland. After their marriage in 1957, Willis and Joanne eventually settled in Elk Grove, California where they raised their five children and Joanne worked as a School teacher for Elk Grove Elementary School. Aside from her family and teaching, Joanne was an avid reader and bridge player.
Services will be held at the East Lawn Funeral Home in Elk Grove on August 3 at 10:00 am.
