It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Jerry Ray Wilson, 80, of Sacramento, California after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer.
Jerry was born December 15, 1941 in Neosho, Missouri to Ira and Susie Mae Wilson. After graduating high school, Jerry joined the United States Navy (1961-1965). After honorably serving his country, Jerry and a friend decided to move to Alaska, where Jerry worked for the railroad and then for Wein Airlines. It was there that he met his beloved wife Sharon, whom he married January 23, 1981.
In 1987, Jerry and Sharon moved to Sacramento, California, where they enjoyed traveling in their RV. Jerry also enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, doing household projects, tinkering with vehicles, and camping.
Jerry is survived by his wife Sharon, his children Dawn Lake, Brian (Deana) Wilson, Donna (Herb) Hutchinson, and Mick (Patricia) Opray, as well as eleven grandchildren and partners, and six great-grandchildren, his sister, Virginia Curry, as well and extended family in Missouri. He is preceded in passing by children Steven, Douglas and Jerry Wilson Jr., as well as sisters Billie Hutchings and Bobbie Tuggle.
Jerry will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including his beloved cat Princess Chloe and the many outdoor cat friends for whom he provided loving care.
Jerryâs final interment will take place later this year at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California.
