Jennifer Elissa Wong, extraordinary mother, wife, sister, and daughter passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 52.
Jennifer was born September 3, 1970, in Daly City, CA. She is survived by her husband Mark Wolter; two sons Nicholas (21) and Jackson Burgess (19); and stepson Jake Wolter (19). She leaves behind her mother Sylvia Wong; sister Natalie Wong (Tim Guay); nephews Nathaniel and Dylan Guay (12); her four precious dogs Lulu (16), Kaioke (7), Ziva (5), and Harley (4); and many extended family and close friends. Jennifer was predeceased by her father Albert Wong.
Jennifer enjoyed her travels to many countries but lived her whole life in California. She grew up in Benicia and graduated from Benicia High. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Sacramento State and worked in the corporate world for a few years before realizing her true passion - cooking. Redirecting her career, she formally trained at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. She honed her talents in Sonoma for acclaimed restaurants The General’s Daughter and The Girl & The Fig, then ventured on her own as a personal chef in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She moved to the Sacramento area in the early 2000s, eventually calling Folsom home in 2006. Active in all aspects of her sons’ lives, you could always find her at every one of their wrestling matches, soccer, basketball, and football games. If you were lucky enough to play sports with her kids, you would have been rewarded with her creatively themed cupcakes, unique desserts, and homemade cookies that she enjoyed making for team events.
Jennifer was always happy creating new baking recipes and working out and found joy listening to 80’s music and classic rock. In her travels both near and far she loved to try new things and enjoyed wonderful food wherever she went. She would often challenge herself to recreate dishes that she enjoyed eating during her many and varied dining escapades. Jennifer also had a great love for all animals, especially dogs. Her dream was to have a big property where she could adopt or rescue every dog in need of a home.
Jennifer’s family and friends will miss the ease at which they would always find themselves in her company, her natural sense of humor, as well as her ever present radiant smile.
Private services will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 29, at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes to honor Jennifer’s life and her love of animals be made in the form of donations to:
Poke-A-Dot’s Rescue, 6 N. School Street, Lodi, CA 95240.
