Janet (Le Brun de Surville) Hayes was born on November 23, 1938, in San Francisco, California. She passed away peacefully in her home in Elk Grove on February 14, 2023. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John (Jack) Hayes in 2020. She is survived by her three children, Karen Cendro and her husband Mike Cendro, Richard Hayes and his wife Laura Machado, and Jana Hayes. She is also survived by her grandchildren Brady Hayes, Maddy Hayes, Corbin Hayes and their Mother Lisa Hayes, Kevin Cendro and her great-grandchild Ashton Hayes.
Janet grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Jack and Jan moved their growing family to Concord, California in the mid 1960’s. She was involved in the activities of her children at school, music, and sports. Her life dream was to have a large family. She accomplished this by being a foster parent to many children, including the four youngest Fontaine teenagers Leah, Michael, Danny, and Jeannine.
She was a sweet, witty woman who loved to cook, bake, sew, and dance. Later in life, she created her own company, Down Home, and designed and copyrighted her jellybean stuffed animals called Poop Pals. She had a heart of gold. She was a master at helping teenagers figure out life. She loved her family more than anything.
