James Michael Johnson

James Michael Johnson, lovingly known as Michael to family and friends, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at the age of 70. A longtime resident of Elk Grove, Michael lived a life grounded in faith, reflection, family, and simple joys that brought him peace.

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James and Erna Johnson; his sister, Annette Elaine Johnson; and his brother, Gregory Wayne Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Evelyn Johnson; half-brothers, Derek Johnson (Stacy) and Cory Johnson; sister-in-law, Brenda Johnson; nieces Natisha Abercrombie (Danny), Lorraine Jackson, Michelle Cochran, and Danielle Johnson; nephews Troy Allen and Gregory Johnson Jr.; great-niece Meche’ Learson; great-nephews Khaleeq Abercrombie and Khari Warren; along with a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Michael was a thoughtful and introspective man who deeply loved the Lord. Although he was unable to attend church regularly in recent years, his faith remained steadfast. Each morning began with prayer, Bible reading, and daily devotions — a quiet testimony to his enduring spiritual commitment.

He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Michael loved being outdoors, whether taking his daily walks, sitting peacefully on the front porch, or relaxing in the garage listening to his favorite R&B classics from the 1970s and 1980s. Music brought him comfort and joy. He also had a curious mind and a lifelong interest in science and learning about the world around him.

Those who knew Michael will remember his calm spirit, reflective nature, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His presence brought comfort to many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A Funeral Service celebrating Michael’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Thrive Church, located at 3109 Dwight Road, Elk Grove, California.

A repast will immediately follow at The Core Natomas Clubhouse, 2745 Orchard Lane, Sacramento, California 95833.
