James was born to Virginia Herger in Mount Moriah, Missouri.

James is survived by his mother Virginia, his loving wife Phyllis, sons Joseph, James, Doug, and Will. Daughters Teresa and Sherrie, as well as his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by son Verlin. 

His life lessons and devotion to his family will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him over the years. He shared 53 wonderful years with his loving wife Phyllis. 

He had many hobbies that he loved sharing with those around him. Whether it be cooking, auto repair, or just working around the house, he was a man who liked to stay busy and spend time with family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on April 25 at East Lawn South Sacramento with interment to follow at a later date.
