James Lansing Foote Jr

June 20, 1932 — June 11, 2024

James Foote Jr., born on June 20th, 1932, in Nevada City, peacefully passed away on June 11th, 2024. He was the son of the late Benita and James Foote Sr.. In 1939, James moved with his parents to their new home located in the City of Sacramento, where he spent the majority of his life. He also resided for 24 years in Glenn County, tending to the family rice farm.

 James proudly served his country, enlisting in the Army on December 16th, 1953. He specialized as a helicopter mechanic at Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas and was honored with both the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his exemplary service.

 James leaves behind his beloved children, Debbie Hobart, James Foote III, Carolyn Foote and Janice Foote. He was also a grandfather to Jesse Luna,  Ashley (Mesick) Varcados and Zachary Foote and was most recently preceded in death by his daughter, Carmen Mesick and grandson, Lyle David Hobart.

 Throughout his life, James had a passion for vintage cars and was known for his skill in building custom vehicles when he was a young lad. He especially enjoyed driving his big trucks, often navigating the rice lands in Willows, California.

 James Foote Jr. will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to his country, and his love for automobiles. His memory will continue to be cherished by his family and friends.
