James Allan Digenhart's Obituary

Master Sergeant James A. Digenhart, USAF (Ret.), age 89, of Sacramento, CA, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. He was relieved from his earthly tethers and moved on to Heaven to join his loved ones waiting to welcome him there.

Born in Missouri to James and Dessie Digenhart, Jim served 22 years and 4 months in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1977. He went on to a second career with the US Postal service, and retired, again. He also devoted 15 years to the Greater Sacramento Area United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Association.

Jim was known to always have a kind word, pleasant demeanor and song in his heart. He believed there was no reason to hold on to negativity, even through physical pain and heartbreak. He was easy to talk to and a friend to many. He was an honorable man who always tried his best to do what was right and stand up for those around him. He loved bowling, travel, music and dancing, college football, basketball, a sit in the morning sunshine, dogs, friends and family.

Jim is survived by his brother, Donald Digenhart; step daughters, Andrea Keller and Grace Higgins; step son-in-law, Brad Keller; and step grandsons, Dylon and Cole Keller. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dessie Digenhart; his sisters, Shirley Edmonds and Mary Strode; his first wife, Masuyo Digenhart; and his second wife, Nobuko Higgins-Digenhart.

A service will be held on April 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819, outside by the Marble Niches.
