Jacqueline Louise Wahleithner

November 8, 1935 — January 24, 2022

Jacqueline Louise Sattler Wahleithner, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away from bone cancer surrounded by family on Monday, January 24, 2022, in Sacramento, California.

Jackie, as she was called by those who knew her, was born on November 8, 1935, to Louis Sattler and Ethal Walters Sattler in Cincinnati, Ohio, the oldest of six children.  She grew up in Ohio and Indiana before moving to Wisconsin where she attended White Lake High School and met her future husband, James C. Wahleithner.  She attended Wisconsin State College - Stevens Point, majoring in Home Economics, and later attended Alverno College in Milwaukee.

Jim and Jackie were married on June 18, 1955, at her family’s home.  As newlyweds they moved to Laredo, Texas, where Jim was stationed with the Air Force.  They started their family during their stay in Texas.  Over the years Jim and Jackie lived throughout the country adding children, friends, and memories along the way.  As a military wife, Jackie was the logistical coordinator for their many moves, not a small feat for a family with eleven children.

Jackie had a gift for keeping in touch with family and friends across the miles.  She wrote hundreds of notes, letters, birthday, and Christmas cards over the years. She also logged many travel miles visiting family; watching sporting events (lots of soccer games), music recitals, dance performances and choir concerts; attending weddings and graduations; and sharing holidays.

Jackie is survived by her eleven living children and their spouses: June Loveless, Jeanne (Scott) Patnode, Jill, Jeffrey (Brenda), Joseph (Cynthia), Janice (Jan Tore) Nygard, James (Angela), Jason (Adrienne), Jay (Jordan), John (Juliet), and Jared (Charcey); her four brothers, Lewis (Carol), Jerry, David and John; four sisters-in-law, Sr. Jane, Joyce, Joan (Julius) and Judy (Steve); her brother-in-law Jerome (Marian); twenty-five grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter; and many other dear friends and relatives.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and parents-in-law, her sister Laura Kais, her sister-in-law Sr. Janet, her son-in-law Michael Brown, and her infant son James Kenneth.

A special thank you to the amazing staff at both Mercy McMahon Terrace, and UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center in Sacramento and Snowline Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to our mother during the last year of her life.
