Ivy Lynn Foley
October 5, 2011-January 31, 2025
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our 13-year-old daughter, Ivy Lynn Foley, who peacefully returned home to loving Heavenly Parents on January 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with a rare form of childhood cancer (clear cell sarcoma of the soft tissue).
Ivy was born on October 5, 2011, to Scott and Lindsay Foley in Sacramento, California. She grew up in Fair Oaks, California, where she attended Carnegie Middle School as a 7th grader. Although one of her favorite pastimes was teasing her three siblings—Ada (15), Flynn (9), Owen (6)—she loved them fiercely and cherished their attention and affection.
Ivy was beautiful and courageous in everything she did. She truly lived life to the fullest. She was full of strength, grit, humor, laughter, and mischief. She had an unwavering spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She continued to live big despite the unfair journey she had to face. Ivy will live on in all of us as we remember her laughing, swimming, dancing, exploring, crafting, and loving life.
While Ivy battled in a way we all wish children never had to endure, our collective love for Ivy and her family beautifully united our entire community. Ivy’s schools, dance studio, and sports teams, her siblings’ schools and sports teams, her parents’ friends and colleagues, their church family, and prayer groups scattered around the country rallied in support of Ivy and her family.
As we all navigate this unimaginable loss, we come together again to honor Ivy’s life and legacy with gratitude for the gift of having known her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 4125 San Juan Avenue, Fair Oaks, California. Ivy’s family will also receive family, friends, and loved ones at a viewing service on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., located at East Lawn Mortuary, located at 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, California.
“I’ve been dreaming, friendly faces, I’ve got so much time to kill.
Just imagine, people laughing, I know some day, we will.
And even if it’s far away, get me through another day.
Cover me in sunshine, shower me with good times,
tell me that the world’s been spinning since the beginning,
and everything’ll be alright.
Cover me in sunshine.”
