Isabelle Roman Nelesen, 81, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025. Born and raised in San Francisco, Isabelle carried a lifelong love for the city, along with a deep pride in her Italian heritage that shaped her values, traditions, and the way she cared for others.
Isabelle attended Lincoln High School and graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing, becoming a registered nurse and beginning a 45-year career devoted to caring for others with compassion and kindness.
Isabelle was an extraordinary Italian cook, best known for gathering family and friends around her table. Her kitchen was the heart of the home—filled with warmth, laughter, and family recipes passed down with care.
Isabelle was the beloved daughter of the late Tony and Mary Tanzi, and sister to the late Joe Tanzi, all of whom preceded her in death. She was married to James Roman for 32 loving years until his passing in 2000, and later to Peter Nelesen for five wonderful years until his passing in 2020.
She is survived by her loving daughters Rosie (Robert) Molinaro, Laura (Dave) Cruz, and her stepdaughter Kathi (Bert) Mutz. Isabelle was an adoring grandmother to her beloved granddaughters, Sophia and Angie Molinaro, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Isabelle loved traveling and especially treasured trips to her favorite place, Hawaii, where she found peace, beauty, and happiness.
Above all, Isabelle will be remembered for her loving and caring spirit, her devotion to family, and the warmth she shared so freely with everyone she met.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
