Born in Cañete, Peru on September 17, 1935 to Miguel Antonio Soler Morales and Carolina Augusta Guerra Cañote, Isabel Augusta Castro peacefully passed away at her home on September 16, 2024 at the age of 88 years and 11 months.
Isabel is survived by her sons Carlos E. Soler, Hugo M. Castro, Gustavo J. Castro, and daughter Isabel C. Stone of Texas, as well as grandchildren, Anthony, Maxwell, David, Sabrina, Daniel, Sofia and great-grandchildren Madeline and Jace Oliver. In addition, she had two daughters-in-law, Gina and Bella, a son-in-law, David, and Kellie Kilgore, Carlos’ fiancee.
Isabel was preceded in death by her husband Hugo E. Castro who passed away on May 22, 2013 at the age of 86 years old, her parents, Miguel and Carolina, brother Miguel, and sisters Rosa, Marina, Victoria, and Margarita. She is survived by her sisters Elena and Amelia. She was a loving wife and a stay home mother to her children in Lima, Peru. After coming to the USA (Sacramento) in February of 1980, the family became members of St. Rose Catholic Church of Sacramento and Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Elk Grove.
Her husband Hugo worked in the banking industry for over 25 years at Bank of Lima in Peru. Isabel worked as his employee and it was love at first sight. The rest was magic! Hugo and Isabel were happily married on September 2, 1962.
She enjoyed cooking, dancing, socializing, garage sales, casinos and had quite a winning streak. She was one of the founding members of Club Peru of Sacramento and loved the many events the club had over the years. She worked for the State of California for over 15 years and made many friends. She met many politicians including Governor Schwarzenegger and most notably Chilean president Michelle Bachelet while visiting the State Capitol.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and celebration of Isabel’s life at East Lawn Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Boulevard, Elk Grove, CA 95624 on Tuesday, September 24th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Wednesday September 25th, a service will be held at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 9539 Racquet Court, Elk Grove 95758. A reception will be held afterwards at Gustavo and Bella’s home, 5805 Forest Ridge Place, Elk Grove, CA 95757. Gate code #7459
