Irene Marsalina Escalante

Our community sadly lost a wonderful member on June 7, 2022. Irene Marsalina Escalante was the cornerstone of the Escalante and Quiggle families of Wilton and Elk Grove. Irene passed away at the age of 78 with her beloved husband of 58 years, Henry by her side. Among her many talents, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Irene raised her children Danny and Marsalina and played a very important role in the lives of her grandchildren Danielle, Dominic, and Rene as well as neighbors Madison and Grace Hanson. She was born to Emanuel and Evangeline Huitron in southern California where she grew up with her brother Manuel and sisters Eva and Dolores. Irene and Henry were married in 1963 and brought their young family to Wilton in 1974. She worked as a school secretary for the Sacramento schools including time at several different schools. She actively supported the program and activities of her children and grandchildren. Irene served as a hostess to many Wilton 4-H Club programs and events at her home.  She was also a member of the Elk Grove/Laguna Women’s Club. Irene achieved her goal of a long and active retirement spent on the “mini ranch” she built with Henry and shared with many others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memorial services are being held on Saturday, June 18^th at 10am at the East Lawn Memorial Park in Elk Grove followed by a lunch reception at the Pavilion at Elk Grove Park at 11:30am.
