Grandpa Wen lived an extraordinary life. His 102 years on this earth were filled with culture and adventure, lived with tenacity and spirit, and remembered with love and legacy. Born in Dongguang, Guangdong in the Republic of China in 1920, Grandpa joined the Chinese Navy at age 19, serving in World War II - he witnessed history unfold during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and played an integral role as an English translator. Following the war, Grandpa Wen made a home for himself and Grandma Wen in Taiwan, supported his children, and immigrated to America with his family. He loved to be surrounded by his family - everywhere you looked in Grandpa's home were photos and portraits of his loved ones over years, across continents. Only a few years ago, the entire family gathered to wish Grandpa a happy 100th birthday. He would be so joyous, with his smile that fills his whole face, to know generations of his family come together again in celebration of his life. We will remember him fondly with a bottle of Hennessy.
Grandpa Wen is survived by his daughters and sons, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife and our beloved grandmother, Virginia.
