In Loving Memory of Hoover L. Yee

Hoover L. Yee, born on October 30, 1930, in China, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Hoover is remembered as a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his four children: Alice, Denise and her husband Greg, Suelynn, and Michael, as well as his three grandchildren: Traynise and her husband Quinton, Jason, and Kayla. He is also survived by his younger brother, sister and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jennie; parents Wai Ling Yee (father) and King Sin Fong (mother); two sisters and three brother in laws.

Hoover's journey to the United States marked a significant turning point in his life. In 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served with honor and dedication during the Korean War. He earned several prestigious awards, including the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation (Republic of Korea). After his honorable discharge in 1961, Hoover began building a life in America, grounded in perseverance and hard work.

On April 8, 1965, Hoover married Jennie, and together they built a loving family. Family was Hoover's greatest pride, and he was deeply committed to ensuring their well-being and happiness for his family. He was known for his exceptional skills as a handyman. He extended these skills beyond his home, helping friends establish businesses, including bars and restaurants, contributing to their success. For many years, Hoover worked at Neptune's Table, as a chef during the day and a waiter at night. His ability to juggle both roles with such commitment exemplified the pride he took in his work and the lengths he would go to support his loved ones.

Hoover’s life was defined by his dedication to family, his hard work, and the quiet pride he carried with him in everything he did. His warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. Hoover’s legacy of love and perseverance will continue through the generations he helped build, and he will be deeply missed.
