Hong Y. Louie

August 20, 1925 — March 6, 2024

Sacramento

Hong Y. Louie, 98, passed away peacefully in Sacramento, CA on March 6, 2024.  He was born in Toishan, China on August 20, 1925.   Along with his father, Hong immigrated to America at a young age hoping for a better life. When he saw the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time, he knew he was in the right place.

He resided in Sacramento his whole life as the loving husband of the late Susan Louie, and wonderful father to Gene (Annie), Alice (Jim), Karen (Brian) and cherished grandfather to eight grandkids, Leslie, (Anthony), Christopher, (Kristi), Michael, Andrew, Catherine, and Emily. Hong had four siblings, the late Chi Ling, Chow Hun, Nelson, Chau King and many nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for working hard in the grocery business and raising a family. He was always ready to help others, especially family members immigrating to America in later years.  He was a kind and caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and watching his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers. One of the highlight moments for him was going to Super Bowl XXIII and cheering his favorite team to a win. But his favorite activity was spending time with his family.

He will be greatly missed, but will be remembered adoringly in our hearts forever.

There will be a private celebration of his life.
