I was born on a farm 8.5 miles north of Mott, North Dakota, on April 7, 1928. Family and friends moved to Sacramento in May 1943. I graduated from Grant High School (1945) and Grant Technical College (1947). Met the love of my life, Dolores Carda, and married December 1948. Had 4 kids. Worked for the State, and retired from CalTrans after 43+ years of service. After 60+ years of marriage, Dolores died of cancer in September 2009. Survived by daughters Sharon Minard (Curt), Karen Blanchard, and Cindy Miller, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Freer and Cliff Freer, sisters Eveline Christopher and Adeline Frantz, son Steven Freer, and grandson Melvin Blanchard. Apparently, I died on January 4, 2025, from a stroke.
Interment will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM at East Lawn Memorial Park (4300 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819) in Sutter Court.
