In Loving Memory of Harold Lee Johnson

April 4, 1946 – December 3, 2024

Harold “Hal” Lee Johnson passed away on December 3, 2024. He was a man who always told those he was close to how much he loved and appreciated them. Ever friendly, he enjoyed having conversations with new people as if they were old friends. With a strong moral compass, he always sought to do what was right, whether he was making sacrifices or lending a hand or an encouraging word.

Harold was born in Sacramento, California to Manley Paul Johnson and Luce Olive (Crane) Johnson. He and his three sisters grew up in Del Paso Heights. He graduated from San Juan High School in 1964. Bravely he enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War, 1966-1968, earning a Purple Heart and other medals of distinction. After he returned from the war, he entered the California Highway Patrol Academy and proudly served for 29 years before his retirement in 2001.

On August 22, 1970 he married the love of his life, Linda Louise (Caron) Johnson in Minnesota. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Harold was known in the community for coaching Roseville youth soccer, Roseville West Little League, and basketball at St. Rose Catholic School for his three children. For the last 22 years, he and Linda made every effort to attend as many of their six grandchildren’s activities as possible including birthday parties, dance recitals, sporting events, school plays and graduations despite it always requiring getting on an airplane to do so. In retirement, softball became Hal's new passion. He joined multiple Senior Softball teams and traveled across the United States, as well as to foreign countries, to play in tournaments and win multiple champion rings.

Harold is survived by his loving wife Linda Louise (Caron) Johnson; his sisters Marjorie (Austin) Drake, Betty (Bill) Ferris, and Linda Johnson; his children Jeff (Shannon) Johnson, Rebecca (Chad) Meyer, and David (Natalie) Johnson; grandchildren Kaylee Johnson, Ashley Meyer, Tyler Johnson, Nicholas Meyer, Matthew Johnson, and Steven Johnson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harold was proceeded in death by his parents Manley Paul Johnson and Luce Olive (Crane) Johnson.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather, faithful friend, and trusted teammate.

The funeral will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1950 Junction Blvd, Roseville on January 20, 2025 at 10:30AM with reception to follow. A burial of cremains will take place at Dixon National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA 95620 on January 21, 2025 at 11:30AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, the charity of his choice Tribute Pages | Alzheimer's Association.
